Kansas State wrapped up exhibition play Friday with a 112–90 win over Division II Newman at Bramlage Coliseum. Juniors P.J. Haggerty and Abdi Bashir Jr. combined for 52 points as the Wildcats shot 60 percent from the field and forced 23 turnovers.
Haggerty finished with 27 points, 10 assists, and four rebounds, while Bashir added 25 points, including five three-pointers. Senior Khamari McGriff and sophomore David Castillo also scored 11 each. The Wildcats totaled 64 points in the paint and 34 on fast breaks.
Newman hit 18 three-pointers, led by Jayden Schoen and Brandon Wilson with five each, but couldn’t keep pace after halftime. Kansas State improved to 76–22 all-time in exhibition play and extended its home exhibition winning streak to 31 games.
The Wildcats open the regular season Tuesday night against UNC Greensboro at Bramlage Coliseum.
