The Royals announced Friday that Connor Dawson will join their Major League staff as a hitting coach, working alongside senior director of hitting performance Alec Zumwalt.
Dawson, 32, is a Kansas City native who has spent the past four seasons with the Milwaukee Brewers, helping develop one of baseball’s most efficient offenses. Under his tenure, the Brewers ranked among MLB’s top 10 in scoring and on-base percentage.
Before joining Milwaukee, Dawson coached in the Mariners’ system and at multiple Kansas-area programs, including Olathe North High School and St. Thomas Aquinas.
The Royals are reshaping their hitting department after averaging just 4.02 runs per game in 2025, ranking 26th in the Majors. With Dawson’s analytically driven approach, Kansas City hopes to boost production next season.
The team still plans to add another hitting coach as part of its broader effort to strengthen the staff for 2026.
