The Kansas Corporation Commission (KCC) will hold a public hearing on December 2 to explain Atmos Energy’s request to raise natural gas rates and to hear questions and comments from customers. Atmos wants approval to increase rates by $19.1 million to cover past costs tied to providing safe and reliable service in Kansas. If the request is approved, the average residential customer would see an 11.2% increase, or about $9.12 more per month. Rates would also go up for businesses, schools, public agencies, large industrial users, and transportation customers.
The hearing will take place at 6 p.m. at Regnier Hall Auditorium on the KU Edwards Campus in Overland Park. Customers across the state can also join through Zoom, but must register on the KCC website by noon on December 1. The hearing will stream live on the KCC’s YouTube channel.
Written comments are accepted until January 20, 2026. The KCC will issue a final decision by March 24, 2026.
