The Stormont Vail Health Flint Hills Campus in Junction City invites the community to join them for a ‘Walk With an A.P.P.,’ a free one-mile walk at the old Junction City High School football field. The walk will take place on Saturday, December 6th at 9:00 a.m.

Walk With an A.P.P. organizer, Savanna Gaumer, said the ‘Walk With’ organization began 20 years ago.

“We started this organization in Topeka about four years ago, and it was founded 20 years ago as the ‘Walk with a Doc’ organization in Columbus, Ohio.”

“We then started our own chapter in Topeka, and we’ve now expanded it into Junction City.”

“It’s a really great way to have doctors, APPs, and APRNs connect with the community that they serve, and then also connect with their staff as well.”

Family Medicine specialist Michael Prichard, PA-C, will join community members for the walk.  He will also offer his insight on diabetes prevention and management.

“We’ll get some brisk December outdoor exercise, and I’ll be talking a bit about diabetes.”

“I’m a type 1 diabetic, and working in family medicine, I see a lot of diabetics. So, I’ll just be giving a little bit of a spiel on good diabetic care in terms of lifestyle management.”

“It’s also a good opportunity for people to interact outside of the professional clinic setting.”

The walk is open to all ages and activity levels. Attendees are encouraged to dress for the weather, bring water, along with plenty of questions for Prichard.
