David Garcia has joined Pawnee Mental Health as a Peer Support Mentor. Since July 2025, Garcia has brought his lived experience in substance use recovery and his passion for helping others to his new role, where he serves individuals across Pawnee’s 10-county service area.
As a peer support mentor, Garcia uses his personal recovery story to provide non-clinical support, encouragement, and guidance to individuals in or seeking recovery from substance use disorders. He helps clients set goals, develop coping strategies, and connect with community resources and recovery networks. His work emphasizes hope and demonstrates that a meaningful life in recovery is possible for everyone.
Before joining Pawnee, Garcia spent 11 years with Manhattan Broadcasting, including eight years as co-host of the 101.5 K-ROCK Morning Show, where he developed strong communication and public outreach skills. He also worked with Flint Hills Job Corps, supporting individuals in creating life and employment skills. He works closely with the recovery services team to help clients achieve their goals and navigate challenges on their recovery journey.
Garcia is passionate about helping others realize their full potential in recovery. His dedication to client care makes him a strong fit for Pawnee Mental Health. He is committed to providing empathetic, encouraging, and practical support to those navigating substance use challenges.
“We are thrilled to welcome David to our team,” said Eric Martin, Recovery Services Manager at Pawnee Mental Health. “His lived experience and dedication to helping others make him an invaluable addition to our recovery support services.”
