The Dickinson County Economic Development Corporation will introduce several changes in December, including a new chamber-style membership program for local businesses and a new name: Driving Dickinson County. DKEDC’s regular work will stay the same, but the new memberships will offer added support such as business training, networking, financing opportunities, and updates on industry trends.
CEO Natalie Muruato said the goal is to better support small businesses and entrepreneurs across the county, noting the program will work best when members stay engaged. DKEDC may also hire another employee to help run the partnership program.
Board vice chair Kenny Roelofsen said the new approach is built on relationships and helps businesses connect with resources and the broader community.
The rebrand comes after Abilene’s Chamber of Commerce closed in 2020 and its functions were absorbed by DKEDC. Businesses will receive information about 2026 memberships in December, with more details to be announced at DKEDC’s Annual Gala.
