Designed by Anderson Knight Architects, LLC of Manhattan and built by Riley Construction Company of Wamego, the new Station #110 represents an investment in public safety infrastructure for central Riley County. The updated facility provides improved access for modern apparatus, additional space for training, and safer working conditions for volunteer firefighters.

“The new Station #110 will allow modern fire apparatus to enter and exit the building safely due to wider doors. It will also allow space for firefighters to work and train on equipment when the weather outside is not hospitable,” explained Russel Stukey, Emergency Management Director and Riley County Fire Chief. “It will give the volunteers an overall sense of pride and should help with recruitment and retention of volunteer firefighters.”

The facility replaces the original Station #110, built in the 1960s at [OLD ADDRESS HERE]. The former building had reached the end of its useful life and could no longer support current equipment or operational needs.

“This station is a real win for the community,” said Deputy Fire Chief Doug Russell. “It gives our volunteer firefighters the space and tools they need to train, respond, and stay safe. Their dedication is what keeps this district strong, and this new facility helps us support the important work they do every day.”

Riley County Commissioner Greg McKinley, Fire Chief Russel Stukey, and Battalion Chief Brian McNulty will speak at the ceremony.
