Haggerty Claims Two National Player of the Week Awards

Kansas State junior P.J. Haggerty earned national recognition Tuesday, receiving both the Associated Press and USBWA Oscar Robertson National Player of the Week honors. The awards follow his Big 12 Player of the Week selection on Monday.

Haggerty averaged 31.7 points, 7.7 rebounds and 6.0 assists as K-State went 2–1 and finished runner-up at the Hall of Fame Classic. He recorded consecutive 30-point games against Tulsa and Mississippi State, including a season-high 37 points versus the Bulldogs. He also had a 30-point, 10-rebound double-double in the win over Tulsa.

He is the first Wildcat to open a season with six straight 20-point games, totaling 168 points in that span.

Haggerty was one of five players named to the USBWA weekly list. He earned the AP honor over Utah State’s MJ Collins and SMU’s B.J. Edwards.
