The Washington County Community Foundation’s December Match Month event is underway, with eligible funds being matched up to $100,000 thanks to the Patterson Family Foundation.
This year, 22 eligible funds are participating in the match event. Board Member Shellie Baxter gave a breakdown on how the match money is distributed.
“Any money given during the month of December would be matched 50% by the Patterson Family Foundation.”
“For example, for every $100 given to a fund, it will be matched $50, and then $50 would be given from Patterson to the Washington County Opportunity Fund for the whole county.”
With these matching funds, non-profits and other eligible organizations can greatly increase their funding, helping to support the many community organizations throughout the county.
Baxter said this event continues to grow, with more eligible organizations taking part and the match money increasing yearly. She wanted to thank all who continually help make this event a success.
“I would love to give a huge shout-out to our board, who are all volunteers and have a heart for Washington County, and see the value of the foundation’s impact.”
“And to those who have given and will give, we’re so grateful because the money you give today with a match grows so fast, and it increases how much money can be reinvested into Washington County.”
Baxter wanted to give additional thanks to Herrs Machine Hydrostatics, Inc., FNB Washington, Citizens State Bank, and Blue Valley Insurance for pledging a minimum of $1,000 to kick off the event.
Donations can be given to any Board member, by mailing a check to the Foundation at P.O. Box 24, Washington, KS 66968, or conveniently online at www.washingtoncountycf.org.
