Royals Make Three-Player Deal with Milwaukee

The Kansas City Royals continued their offseason work Saturday by completing a trade with the Milwaukee Brewers. Kansas City acquired outfielder Isaac Collins and right-handed reliever Nick Mears, while sending left-handed reliever Angel Zerpa to Milwaukee. The deal has not yet been confirmed by either club.

Collins is expected to factor into the Royals’ outfield plans. He played mostly left field last year but also spent time at second and third base. The 28-year-old hit .263 with nine home runs and 54 RBIs in 2025 and finished fourth in National League Rookie of the Year voting.

Mears adds depth to the bullpen. He posted a 3.49 ERA in 56 and two-thirds innings last season and worked in middle relief.

Zerpa, 26, spent the past two seasons as an option in Kansas City’s bullpen, finishing 2025 with a 4.18 ERA.
