On Monday, U.S. Senators Roger Marshall and Peter Welch (Vermont) announced that their bill, the Whole Milk for Healthy Kids Act, has passed the House and will soon be sent to the President to be signed into law.

The legislation highlights that nearly 90% of Americans do not meet daily dairy intake recommendations, missing key nutrients like calcium and vitamin D. Whole milk is a rich source of both, and nutrition experts note that whole dairy fats do not harm diets and may even lower heart disease risk.

Originally introduced by Senator Marshall in June 2023, the bill was reintroduced in April 2025 with bipartisan support. It passed the Senate Agriculture Committee in June 2025 and was approved by the full Senate in November 2025.
