North Central Kansas Medical Center in Concordia will host its first community blood drive of 2026 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Jan. 5, in the hospital conference room.

The blood drive is open to the public and aims to help maintain a safe and adequate blood supply for patients in need. Blood donations are essential for emergency care, surgeries, cancer treatments and patients with chronic illnesses. A single donation can help save multiple lives.

“Hosting a blood drive is one of the easiest ways we can come together as a community to help others,” said Ali Slate, Organizational Development manager at NCKMC. “Donating blood doesn’t take long, but it can make a life-saving difference for someone who needs it.”

NCK Medical Center encourages eligible donors to consider giving blood, noting that demand remains steady year-round. General requirements for donating blood are:
* Donor must be 17 years of age, or 16 with parental consent
* Must weigh at least 110 pounds
* Must feel well, no flu or cold symptoms for at least 72 hours
* Photo ID or blood donor card is required

Other factors such as medication, travel history and pregnancy may effect your ability to donate, so be sure to check with your provider if you have questions or concerns.

For more information or to schedule an appointment, contact Ali Slate at 785-243-8507. Walk-ins may be accommodated as space allows
