The Washington City Council is requesting proposals for the former Friendly Corners building at 100 B Street, which has been vacant since the senior meal site closed last summer. Interested parties must submit proposals to City Hall by January 20th for consideration ahead of the February council meeting.

The building is appraised at $50,650 and currently costs the city about $10,000 annually to maintain.

Council members noted ongoing interest in the property. Opinions have varied on whether to sell or give the building away, but leaders agreed it should no longer sit unused.

Proposals must outline intended use, timeline, job creation potential, and plans to maintain the property.
