Ryan West presented three quotes for a DeWalt table saw. The Board approved purchasing the saw and wheeled table from Clay County Lumber. West also reported that new guttering was installed at the Law Enforcement Center, with additional wood repairs.
The Board accepted a resignation letter from Gailen Tyrell as chairman of the Solid Waste Management Committee, effective Dec. 31, 2025.
Highway Administrator Bobby Shomper provided a weekly report, including road maintenance activities and upcoming projects. The Board drafted and signed a letter regarding the 10th and Valleyview Road area. Shomper also presented a single bid from Carlson Heating & Air Conditioning for tube heaters to be installed by February and paid from the 2026 budget. The Board approved the bid unanimously.
EMS Director Alec Trembath reported the department is at 1,002 calls this year. Brad Homman of Homman Electronics evaluated EMS radios in preparation for potential replacements. Trembath also attended a recent Fire Chiefs meeting and noted a productive discussion.
Emergency Manager Jim Bogart reported 22 attendees at Fire Chiefs training, which included incident reviews and debriefings. Bogart then presented an updated $278,789 bid from Homman Electronics for new radios across multiple county departments. The Board tabled the bid until next week, requesting a departmental cost breakdown.
County Clerk Kayla Wang presented the 2026 renewal for liability, auto, and property insurance totaling $250,613, which the Board approved unanimously.
Sheriff Alan Benninga gave his weekly report and presented two quotes for replacement desktop computers. The Board approved purchasing two Dell Pro Tower Plus desktops from Network’s Plus. Sheriff Benninga also reported a payroll error totaling $2,479.52 for part of the year. The Board approved a one-time corrective payment to the employee on the first January 2026 paycheck.
District Court Clerk Melissa Stellner presented bids for three replacement computers. The Board approved purchasing three Dell Pro Slim Micro desktops from Central Office Service & Supply.
Landfill Director Rhonda Carroll discussed the resignation of the Solid Waste Committee chairman. The Board asked Carroll to contact remaining committee members to seek a new chair, preferably from the southern part of the county, and authorized the purchase of an adapter to remove freon from appliances brought to the landfill.
