Kansas State has hired Marcus Woodson as its co-defensive coordinator, head coach Collin Klein announced Monday. Woodson will also work with the Wildcats’ defensive backs.
Woodson brings 21 years of coaching experience and spent the last three seasons at Arkansas, where he served as co-defensive coordinator. During his time with the Razorbacks, Arkansas improved its pass defense and produced several key takeaways in conference play.
This will be Woodson’s first coaching stop in the Big 12 after previous stints in the SEC and ACC. Klein said Woodson’s background as a teacher and recruiter made him a strong addition to the staff.
Before Arkansas, Woodson coached defensive backs at Florida State, Auburn, Memphis and Fresno State. Several players he coached went on to be selected in the NFL Draft.
A former Ole Miss safety, Woodson said he is eager to get started here.
