K-State opened the indoor track and field season Friday at the Thane Baker Invitational with two school records and several strong early marks at Cliff Rovelto Indoor Track.
Senior Gary Moore Jr. set a school record in the men’s weight throw, winning with a mark of 23.14 meters. The throw bettered his previous record from last season and currently ranks among the top marks nationally.
Senior Vanessa Mercera also made an impact in the women’s 400 meters, winning in 53.04 seconds to set a school record. It was her first meet in a K-State uniform since May 2024.
Several other Wildcats posted notable results. Selva Prabhu won the men’s triple jump, Alan Hanna claimed the high jump in his collegiate debut, and Monique Hardy won the women’s weight throw. On the track, Delaney Brinker and Tavon Underwood set meet records in their events.
K-State will compete again at home Jan. 30–31.
