Royals Add Top Talent in International Signings

The Royals moved quickly as the 2026 international signing period opened, adding several highly rated prospects. Headlining the class is Venezuelan outfielder Angeibel Gomez, ranked No. 4 overall by MLB Pipeline and one of the highest-rated international players the club has signed.

Kansas City also reached agreements with Cuban shortstop Jaider Suárez (No. 22) and Venezuelan catcher Adrián Lunar (No. 43). It marks the second straight year the Royals have signed at least three Top 50 international prospects under international scouting director Daniel Guerrero.

The club tied for the largest bonus pool at just over $8 million and reportedly signed five players for $700,000 or more.

Gomez is viewed as a potential center fielder with speed and power. Suárez brings experience from Cuba’s youth national teams, while Lunar is known for his bat control and defense. The signings continue a growing focus on international talent.
