The Washington County Community Foundation held a Match Month in December and achieved a record-breaking result! A total of $175,045.73 in gifts were received, benefiting 20 different funds at the foundation. The Patterson Family Foundation will provide a $100,000 matching grant, bringing the overall impact to $275,045.73.
According to the Patterson Family Foundation’s match guidelines, 50% of the match will be distributed proportionally among all eligible funds that received donations, and the remaining 50% will support the Washington County Opportunity Fund, the unrestricted grant fund that helps make projects possible throughout the county.
The Washington County Community Foundation board extends a heartfelt thank you to all match month donors, including the leading local businesses who pledged a minimum donation of $1,000: Citizens State Bank, Herrs Machine Hydrostatics, Inc., FNB Washington, and Blue Valley Insurance. A special thank you also goes to the Patterson Family Foundation for their generous support of the foundation.
The Patterson Family Foundation is a family-led, non-profit foundation continuing the legacy of Neal and Jeanne Patterson, whose mission is advancing health care, education, and strengthening communities, especially in rural areas in Kansas and western Missouri. They understand that local community foundations play a special role in serving their communities and hope to inspire more local donors to participate in rural philanthropy through rural-serving community foundations, and for more donations to flow to local nonprofits as a result. “Where you come from says a lot about you. But what you do says even more.” -Patterson Family Foundation
