The Kansas State men’s track and field team is ranked No. 1 in the NCAA after the second week of the indoor season, according to the USTFCCCA national poll released Tuesday. This is the first time a K-State team has held the top spot since the football team in 2012. The Wildcats moved up two spots from week one with 142.93 points, ahead of Tennessee (130.10) and Oregon (124.17).
The men lead the NCAA in long jump and triple jump, while ranking third in the high jump and fifth in the weight throw. In the triple jump, the team’s top four performers, led by sophomore Selva Prabhu, average 16.31 meters, nearly four feet ahead of the second-place team.
Junior Tah Chikomba and sophomores Uroy Ryan and Croix DaCunha highlight the men’s long jump squad, while the high jump and weight throw teams also rank among the nation’s best. K-State will compete next at the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
