The Clay Counts Coalition approved several funding allocations during its recent meeting on February 11, directing grant dollars toward recovery services, youth education, and local partnerships.
Members unanimously approved a motion to allocate $10,000 from Clay Counts DECK grant funds to support the Recovery Court program. The funding will help cover participant needs including specialized training, drug testing, housing assistance, and medical expenses. Supporters said the investment strengthens recovery efforts and reduces barriers for individuals working through the court program.
The coalition also voted unanimously to spend $950 in grant funds to bring the Screenagers documentary to the community. The film will be shown Tuesday, March 10 at 6 p.m. at Garfield Elementary School. Organizers say the documentary focuses on youth and screen use and is intended to encourage family discussion and awareness.
In addition, members approved up to $300 to pay annual partnership dues for Grow Clay County. Coalition leaders said maintaining the partnership supports collaboration and resource sharing among local organizations.
All three funding motions passed without opposition. The next Coalition meeting will take place Wednesday, March 11, at the Clay Center Zoo Welcome Center Meeting Room.
