K-State Rallies for 24-5 Win Over Penn State

Kansas State scored 24 runs on 21 hits Sunday to defeat Penn State 24-5 in seven innings at Sloan Park. The Wildcats improved to 3-0 at the MLB Desert Invitational.

Junior Dee Kennedy led the offense, going 4-for-5 with two home runs and a career-high seven RBI. He hit a solo homer in the fifth and added a grand slam during a 14-run seventh inning.

K-State scored in six straight innings and recorded its first 20-run game since last season.

Senior left-hander Lincoln Sheffield earned the win, allowing three runs, two earned, over five innings. He gave up eight hits with five strikeouts and one walk.

Eleven Wildcats had at least one hit, and all 12 players in the lineup scored a run. The team also drew 11 walks.

Through three games, K-State has outscored opponents 46-14 to open the season.
