Kansas State junior guard P.J. Haggerty has been named to the John R. Wooden Award Late Midseason Top 20 Watch List. The list was announced Tuesday by the Los Angeles Athletic Club on ESPN2.
The award honors the most outstanding player in college basketball. Haggerty is one of eight Big 12 players recognized and advances to the national ballot, which will be trimmed to 15 finalists later this month.
Haggerty ranks second in Division I scoring at 23.3 points per game. He has scored in double figures in all 23 games this season, including 17 games with at least 20 points and four 30-point efforts.
His 536 points through 23 games are the second-most in school history over that span. Haggerty is 31 points away from reaching 2,000 for his career, a mark only three other active Division I players have reached.
