U.S. Representative Sharice Davids delivered Valentine’s Day cards to veterans at the Lenexa VA as part of her eighth annual “Valentine’s for Veterans” program.

After inviting community participation, Davids’ office collected more than 650 handmade cards from across Kansas’ Third Congressional District. Davids, whose mother served 20 years in the Army, said the program is one way to show appreciation for veterans and remind them of the support available to them.

Her office also highlighted services offered to Kansas City-area veterans, including assistance navigating federal agencies and accessing earned benefits.

“It’s an honor to once again deliver valentine’s cards to veterans, their families, and caregivers in our community,” said Davids. “As the daughter of a veteran, I understand firsthand the sacrifice our veterans make while serving our country. Spending time with them at the VA is always incredibly meaningful — especially after extreme efforts last year to gut the VA and undermine the care our veterans have earned. I’m thankful for the Kansans who participated and look forward to next year’s program.”

During her time in Congress, Davids has supported legislation aimed at helping veterans transition to civilian life. She backed bipartisan measures to assist veterans starting small businesses and opposed efforts to reduce funding for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Davids also voted in favor of the Honoring our PACT Act, which expanded VA health care eligibility to approximately 3.5 million veterans exposed to burn pits and other toxic hazards during military service.
