The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) has released the new 2026-28 Official State Bicycle Map, offering cyclists tools to plan trips ranging from short rides to cross-state adventures.

The free map features color-coded highways and county roads to show traffic levels and shoulder widths, helping riders choose safer routes. County roads are also marked for pavement type, giving cyclists options to avoid busy highways.

Other highlights include rest areas, bike shops, state parks, scenic byways, hospitals with 24-hour emergency care, and past Biking Across Kansas routes. The map also includes information about Kansas Trails Inc., a new group supporting accessible and sustainable trails statewide.

“We want residents and visitors alike to experience a few of the many venues and sights Kansas offers by bike while participating in active lifestyles,” said KDOT Active Transportation Manager Jenny Kramer.

Cyclists can order free maps and safety flyers at ksdot.gov/KSBikeMap, by emailing KATE@ks.gov, or calling 785-296-5186.
