Texas Tech Pulls Away From K-State in Lubbock

Texas Tech Red Raiders men’s basketball shot better than 50 percent and had five starters in double figures in a 100-72 win over Kansas State Wildcats men’s basketball on Saturday at United Supermarkets Arena.

Texas Tech (20-7, 10-4 Big 12) scored 49 points in the first half and never trailed after an early stretch. Donovan Atwell led the Red Raiders with 26 points, including 21 before halftime. Christian Anderson added 21 points, with 16 coming in the second half.

The Wildcats (11-16, 2-12) cut a 22-point first-half deficit to 10 points midway through the second half. A jumper by Nate Johnson made it 70-60 with 9:10 left, but Texas Tech answered with a 12-0 run to put the game out of reach.

P.J. Haggerty led K-State with 17 points. Johnson added 15, and Taj Manning scored 10.

K-State travels to Colorado on Wednesday.
