Livestock producers in the River Valley District and surrounding areas are invited to attend Managing Insects in Livestock Production, an educational program focused on practical, science-based strategies for controlling insect pests that impact animal health and performance.

The program will be held Tuesday, March 17 at 6:00 p.m. at the 4-H Conference Building on the fairgrounds (213 South 12th Street) in Clay Center.

This timely session, presented by Dr. Cassandra Olds of Kansas State University, will help producers better understand common insect challenges in livestock operations and provide tools to manage them effectively. Topics will include:

· Identifying the source of fly problems and practical control strategies

· Understanding insecticide resistance and how to slow or prevent its spread

· Updates on invasive insect species impacting livestock production

This program is designed to benefit both experienced producers and those just getting started with livestock offering practical knowledge that can be applied immediately on the farm which is a great fit for the hands-on work many local families are already doing this spring.

There is no cost to attend; however, advance registration is requested. Please RSVP by March 13 by calling the Washington office at 785-325-2121.
