Martha Elizabeth (Benfer) Van Scoyoc, El Dorado, KS, formerly from the Longford and Clay Center, KS area, went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 13, 2026, at age 104. She was born November 7, 1921, to Edwin and Christina Benfer of rural Longford, KS. She graduated from Longford High School and completed a Normal Training Teaching Certificate. She taught at North Exeter and Beech Glen elementary schools prior to her marriage to Rex Ira Van Scoyoc. To this marriage, four children were born. Farm life, homemaking responsibilities and being a God honoring mother kept her busy. In her later years, she was known and appreciated for her quilting skills. Preceding her in death was her husband Rex, son Donald, and daughter Janet. Surviving are daughters Marjorie (Tom) Rice, Sharon (Terry) Stewart, daughter-in-law Evelyn Van Scoyoc, four grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Memorial services will be held on March 7, 2026, at Longford United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 A.M., prior to the 11:00 A.M. funeral service, with graveside services following at Prairie Dale Cemetery. With Martha’s desire for everyone to know Jesus, the family suggests memorials to El Dorado First Baptist Church Mission Fund, Longford United Methodist Church, or Interim Hospice, El Dorado, KS.
