Grant Gallagher of the Kansas State Wildcats baseball was named Big 12 Co-Newcomer of the Week after his performance in the Wildcats’ series win over Columbia Lions baseball.

Gallagher, a senior transfer from East Tennessee State Buccaneers baseball, is the second K-State player to receive a Big 12 weekly award this season, joining shortstop Dee Kennedy.

The third baseman hit .444 (8-for-18) during the week with two doubles and a home run. In the Columbia series, he drove the first pitch he saw off the wall in left-center field to bring in the tying and winning runs.

Gallagher also hit a two-run home run in a road game against the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns baseball. He finished the week with a 1.267 OPS and a perfect fielding percentage with nine assists.
