The Clay Center Community High School Tiger Band’s 83rd edition of Stardusters is set for Friday, March 27th, at 7:00 p.m. in the Martyn-Snodgrass Auditorium.

Beginning in 1942, the Stardusters performance has been a Clay Center staple every year, except 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This year’s theme will take attendees ‘Through the Ages.’ Beginning with the age of the dinosaurs and extending into the future.  Daniela Thrasher, Director of Bands, discussed the types of music the audience will hear.

“We’re going to start at the beginning with a prehistoric suite, then a piece that’s called Earth’s Dawn, it’s really cool.”

“We will hear some gold rush pieces like Western and a medley from ‘O Brother Where Art Thou?’

“Industrial Revolution, then we go to Rock and Roll and Swing, and we’re ending with the future with Time Warp from the Rocky Horror Picture Show.”

The performance will have something for everyone, bringing the audience through the years through music. The CCCHS Tiger Chorale will also make a guest appearance this year.

“Our guests this year will be the CCCHS Tiger Chorale, and we’ll also have eight or nine 8th graders joining us in the ranks of the Tiger Band.”

Tickets for the annual Stardusters performance are currently available at Mayo’s in downtown Clay Center for a discounted price. Tickets will also be sold at the door on the evening of the performance.
