Recently, David Toland, Lieutenant Governor and Secretary of Commerce, announced a $1 million grant was issued for tourism projects across the state through the Kansas Attraction Development Grant program. This new round of funding will support 22 projects across the state. Recipients are contributing over $12 million in matching funds to help make these projects a reality.
One of the recipients, Rolling Hills Zoo, was awarded $75,000 to help fund the development of its Tiger Falls exhibit. “This grant is an exciting step forward for Rolling Hills Zoo and for the Salina community,” said Ryan VanZant, RHZ Executive Director. This upcoming attraction will feature Amur tigers, snow leopards, and red pandas. The project is a major investment in conservation education and will also boost regional tourism. “Tiger Falls will not only enhance the guest experience but will also strengthen our mission of wildlife conservation and education while drawing new visitors to our region.”
The Zoo was recognized at a recent check presentation event attended by representatives from Kansas Tourism, the Rolling Hills Zoo Board of Directors, the Dane G. Hansen Foundation, the Jack Wilson Charitable Trust, Visit Salina, and Rolling Hills Zoo staff.
