Sixth through eighth grade students are invited to Kansas State University’s Manhattan campus Saturday, April 25, for Sonia Kovalevsky Day, a mathematics event celebrating puzzles, patterns, and codes. The event is free, and lunch and materials are provided.

Named for the 19th-century mathematician and women’s rights advocate, the day honors her legacy and aims to inspire middle schoolers to explore math, support their transition to high school, and encourage interest in STEM fields.

Workshops run 9 a.m.–3 p.m. in Cardwell Hall and are led by faculty, graduate and undergraduate students, and K-State’s Association for Women in Mathematics graduate chapter. Students will enjoy hands-on activities such as network problems, puzzles, secret codes, and the binary number system.

Registration is due April 15. To register click here. Questions may be emailed to skday@k-state.edu.
