Hannelore Marie (Stahl) Young, age 75, of rural Wakefield died April 20, 2022 at Advena Living of Clay Center. She was born November 28, 1946 in Heidelberg, Germany to Erdmute Stahl and raised by her grandmother, Anna Stahl. Hannelore married and moved to the United States in 1977 becoming a US citizen on July 22, 1983. Hanna worked very hard for her US citizenship completing classes and learning English. She was very proud to be an American. Hanna spent her career working in school and hospital cafeterias preparing wonderful food. Her knowledge and love of cooking was cultivated by her grandmother, Anna. She was known for making her native German dishes and serving them to her co workers and friends. She loved sending greeting cards to her friends to celebrate all of their special occasions.
Hanna was a member of the Mizpah United Methodist Church. She is survived by her brother Bernhard H. Stahl of Heidelberg, Germany and her cousin Gudrun R. H. Woelke of Leimen, Germany. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Mizpah United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 26 at 10:30 am at the Mizpah United Methodist Church, 1429 6th Rd., Wakefield, KS. Visitation will be held from 9:30 am until service time.
Interment will be in the Mizpah Cemetery, Wakefield, Kansas.
