Alan Eugene Barnes, age 56, formerly of Clifton, Kansas, entered into rest on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at the St. Mark’s Medical Center in La Grange, Texas.
He was born on January 13, 1966 in Clay Center, Kansas to Dale and Georgia Belle (Knox) Barnes.
He was a 1984 graduate of Clifton-Clyde High School. He was a 1987 graduate of NCKAVTS, Beloit Campus receiving his Electrician degree.
On June 24, 1989 he married Tamera Ohlde. To this union 3 children were born, Nicole, Ryan, and Matthew. They were divorced in 2011.
He worked as an electrician until 1991. He started working as a pipe technician in 1991 for Mid-America Pipeline in McPherson, KS. He worked for the company through many name changes for 20 years. He then worked for Conco-Phillips in Texas and worked the pipeline there for 8 years. He was most recently employed with Energy Transfer in Austin, Texas.
Alan enjoyed many hobbies and loved to learn new things. He enjoyed things from horses, to elk hunting, training hunting dogs, to snowmobiles, jeeps, and motorcycles. He also loved fishing and hunting. He loved to share these hobbies with his children and his friends.
He is survived by his 3 children: Daughter, Nicole Goeckel (Alex), and their two children, Averi and Anthony, Washington, Ks; Son, Ryan Barnes (Rebecca), Clyde, KS; Son, Matt Barnes, Clifton, KS; Brother, Dennis and wife, Dixie Barnes, Clyde, KS; Brother, Jimmy Barnes, Clifton, KS; Brother, Jeffery Barnes, Clifton, KS; Brother, Gregory and wife, Deneen Barnes, Clifton, KS; Sister, Janet and husband, Kevin Schurle, Clay Center, KS; Sister, Linda and husband, Tony Tuberville, Couch, MO; Sister, Angela and husband, William Cyphers, Clifton, KS; Sister, LuAnn and husband, Brian Johns, Minneapolis, KS; Sister-in-law, Deborah Barnes.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dale and Georgia, a brother, Michael Barnes.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 27, 2022 from 1-8 p.m. at the Chaput Mortuary, Clyde, Kansas. Family will receive friends from 6-8 pm.
A Celebration of Life Graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, May 28, 2022 at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, with Fr. Steven Heina officiating. A meal will be served by the S.A.L at the American Legion Post #227 in Clifton, Kansas following the graveside service for all of Alan’s family and friends.
