Job Title: Diesel & Automotive Technician
We are looking for highly motivated and physically fit candidates with good attention to detail for the position of Diesel & Automotive Technician. The primary duties of a technician include performing diagnostic tests on diesel and automotive vehicles to find faults, analyzing diagnostic test results and repairing or replacing engine, steering, transmission, braking or lighting system components. Diesel & Automotive Technicians need to be highly organized and communicate effectively, as they will be expected to maintain detailed records of serviced vehicles.
Responsibilities:
Test driving vehicles to gauge performance, running diagnostic tests on vehicles, Analyzing diagnostic test results.
Replacing vehicle engines, steering mechanisms, transmissions and braking systems, checking vehicle lighting systems.
Performing preventative maintenance on service trucks and maintaining detailed records of serviced vehicles.
Maintaining a parts inventory, ensuring the cleanliness of the shop.
Requirements:
Valid CDL Class A driver’s license must be able to pass a drug and/or alcohol test.
Aptitude for mathematics and science.
Advanced knowledge of diesel engine components.
Proficiency with maintenance and repair tools.
Attention to detail, Good interpersonal skills.
Excellent verbal communication skills, Good organization skills.

The Clay County Highway Department is taking applications for the following position:
Equipment Operator (Operator II)
Duties/Responsibilities:
Operates construction, excavation, hauling, and maintenance equipment including, Dump
Trucks, front-end loaders, excavators, or grade tractors.
Transports tools and other construction equipment to and from construction sites
Inspects and fuels vehicle prior to beginning shift. Performs routine maintenance and repairs.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Knowledge of heavy machinery operation and capabilities, Ability to follow instructions
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of operating heavy machinery.
Able to work long periods including evenings and weekends, when necessary. Must be able to
operate machinery in all weather conditions and terrains. Must be able to lift 25+ pounds at a
time.
Must have a current CDL, (Commercial Driver’s License) and must agree to take a pre-
employment Drug and Alcohol test.
Position is full-time with fringe benefits.
