CLAY CENTER, Kan. — Advena Living of Clay Center will be closing the assisted living/residential care side at the community effective June 30, 2022, after determining it is not sustainable. They will continue to provide skilled nursing services, which includes rehabilitation and long-term care.
The national shortage of nursing staff and associated high staffing costs, in combination with the low occupancy of the assisted living, has unfortunately driven the company to make this decision.
The current residents at Advena Living of Clay Center have been notified of the upcoming changes and the company plans to help them relocate.
“We understand we are making a decision that means residents will have to move to a new home and this will disrupt relationships that many have enjoyed for years,” said Doug Frihart, Vice President of Operations for Advena Living. “Nonetheless, our commitment to be good stewards of this community means we have to make hard decisions.”
Advena Living of Clay Center does not anticipate any layoffs or change in leadership.
“Advena Living is invested in creating a positive culture and enhancing the resident experience at Clay Center,” said Brian Griffiths, Administrator of Advena Living of Clay Center. “We are dedicated to providing the best care we can to residents who have chosen us to meet their skilled nursing needs.”
