Clay Co., Kan. — The 64th district race has been decided with Lewis Bloom winning the race against incumbent Suzi Carlson.
The race was between three individuals. Bloom, Carlson and Brad Starnes.
Throughout the night the lead changed with each of the three leading at one point but after all precincts reported their voting numbers, Bloom came out on top.
Bloom is a lifelong farmer and stockman from rural Clay Center. He graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in Animal Science and served 6 years in the National Guard.
On the Kansas Secretary of State’s website it shows Bloom leading with 40 percent of the vote compared to Starnes and Carlson’s 30 percent.
Bloom will face off against democratic candidate Patricia Smetana in the November general election.
District 64 has new boundaries with the district comprising all of Clay county, the eastern half of cloud county, northern portion of Dickinson County and a large swath of Riley county.
