Abilene, KS – Impact Sports and Fitness, an affiliate of Memorial Health System, was awarded a grant in November of 2022 from the Community Foundation of Dickinson County totaling $5,000.00. Impact Sports and Fitness supports the Memorial Health System mission; ‘to enhance the health and wellness for all’, and in doing so, its efforts to maintain a facility with equipment in good working order is important.
Director of Impact Sports and Fitness, RaeLyn Racy, listens to community requests, and tries hard to accommodate those who use the facility by purchasing machines that they want to work out on. “Every year I budget for new machines taking the requests into consideration, but it never fails, it seems we have to replace an existing machine. Our cardio machines need replaced more often than the strength machines,” said RaeLyn. “This grant helped us purchase a Hammer Hack Squat machine, which is a new addition to our strength equipment used to build strength in the lower body.”
Pictured using the new Hammer Hack Squat machine is Ann Marie Schwarting. She demonstrates how the equipment keeps a person at an angled position while standing. This allows a person to safely support the weight while relying on their legs to drive the movement.
