Eric W. Pishney, age 51, of Blue Rapids, passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at his parents’ home surrounded by his family.
Eric was born October 2, 1971, at Marysville, to Doug and Becky (Pierce) Pishney. He graduated from Valley Heights High School in 1990. He then attended Kansas State University for two years. On May 26, 2007, he married Christina L. Tennyson.
Eric was a Machine Programmer for Landoll Corporation in Marysville. He had also worked at Abbott Aluminum in Riley County. He was a member of the Blue Rapids United Methodist Church.
During the early 2000’s, he operated a karaoke and DJ service. He enjoyed performing the song “Johnny Be Good.” After learning he had cancer the song “Live Like You Were Dying” meant a lot to him.
Survivors include his wife, Chris; their daughter, Kourtnee Pishney; his parents, Doug and Becky Pishney; a sister, Holly Pishney; aunts and uncles; Kay Crowder, Addie (Charles) Ward, Tom (Marie) Pierce and Carl (Tina) Pierce; along with many cousins.
Preceding Eric in death are his grandparents, Will and Jane Pishney, and Lester and Dorothy Pierce; an uncle, Bill Crowder; an aunt, Janie Pierce and cousin, Jennifer Pierce.
A memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM, on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at the Blue Rapids United Methodist Church with Pastor Berniece Ludlum officiating. Althea Wertz is the musician. Kim Oatney will sing “Lord, You Have Come To The Lakeshore.” Prerecorded selections included: “Johnny Be Good” and “Live Like You Were Dying.” Honorary Bearers are: Rod Crowder, Darin Crowder, Lance Crowder, Dustin Tennyson and Joshua Tennyson.
Inurnment will follow at the Czech Moravian Cemetery, south of Blue Rapids.
