Josh McGinn Appointed as Assistant Secretary of Agriculture

Mike Beam, Secretary of Agriculture, announced that Josh McGinn has been appointed as the Assistant Secretary of Agriculture at the Kansas Department of Agriculture (KDA) McGinn began the position on January 22.

The important role McGinn will play in the legislative agenda for the KDA includes research and analysis of legislative issues and developing and backing the agency’s priorities. In addition, he will assist the Secretary in developing policies for agriculture and rural development issues to enhance the landscape for Kansas agriculture.

For almost five years, McGinn has been an addition to the Kelly administration, being one of the first employees of the Office of Rural Prosperity. He then became a Senior Policy Analyst and Deputy Director for Budget and Policy and recently held the position of Policy Director within the Governor’s office.

Raised near Sedgwick on a fifth-generation farm, his family farms dryland and irrigated crops. They recently expanded into agritourism and specialty crops.
