Kansas State University
The Kansas State University Animal Sciences Leadership Academy (KASLA) is now accepting applications for its 2025 session. This four-day educational program, held in Manhattan, Kansas, from June 11-14, is designed for high school students in grades 9-12 who are interested in the livestock industry and related careers. The academy aims to enhance leadership skills and expand students’ knowledge of animal sciences through hands-on experiences and mentorship. Applications are due by April 15, 2025, and can be accessed at asi.ksu.edu/KASLA.
Sponsored by the Livestock and Meat Industry Council Inc. (LMIC) and hosted by the K-State Department of Animal Sciences and Industry, KASLA provides participants with unique opportunities to engage with industry leaders, faculty, and peers. The program includes interactive workshops, industry tours, and faculty mentorship. Students will also collaborate on team projects addressing current industry issues, culminating in presentations at the closing reception.
With only 20 students selected, KASLA ensures personalized attention from experts in the field. Participants will stay in university housing, with a reservation fee required upon acceptance. For more details, contact academy director Sharon Breiner at sbreiner@ksu.edu or 785-532-6533.
