On Saturday, October 12th The Flint Hills Discovery Center (FHDC) will host a guided tour of the multi-generation River Creek Farms east of Manhattan from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Learn some of the secrets of the science and technology that go into modern farming.
Attendees will see how the equipment, the land, the people, and the livestock all work together on a diversified family farm. Also included is a tour of the recently restored 1876 limestone barn.
Attendees should meet at the historic limestone barn on the south side of Highway 18, approximately 10 miles east of Manhattan.
The tour will be held rain or shine, as long as the weather is deemed safe. Sturdy shoes, sunblock as necessary, and a water bottle are encouraged.
Pre-registration is required by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, October 11th. Youth under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Registration can be completed on the FHDC website or in person at FHDC.
