The Fair Highlights the Confidence and Skills of Local 4-Hers

By Ryan Duey

At the Clay County Free Fair attendees not only get to have fun at the carnival, eat Fair food, and watch fun performances, they also have the chance to see all the hard work local 4-H members put in throughout the year. The Fair is a culmination and celebration of their hard work.

4-H is an organization designed to help instill confidence, belonging, and life skills in youth to help prepare them for life. 4-H Ambassador Macy Jefferis said 4-H has helped her greatly.

Jefferis said 4-H is so much more than just animals, as some may assume. There are multiple different projects including: baking, Legos, fashion, photography, painting, visual arts, and so much more. It doesn’t matter if you’re a young kid or in high school, it’s worth it to join, Jefferis said.

While at the Fair, take the time to meet your local 4-H members. And don’t forget to walk around and appreciate the time and work they put into their projects throughout the year.
