During Chapman’s recent City Council meeting, Chief of Police Reynolds presented Fire Chief Nick Saunto and Captain Craig Klukas with the “Citizens Life Saving Award” for their courageous and selfless acts that saved two Chapman residents during Winter Storm Blair last month.
On January 5th two elderly residents had fallen in the 18 inches of snow in their yard that the blizzard brought and could not get free. Chief Saunto and Cpt. Klukas walked nearly a quarter of a mile in the blizzard conditions in knee to hip deep snow to make it to the fallen people.
If they had not made it to this couple, they would have certainly perished in the blizzard conditions. Firefighter Vahsholtz and Assist Chief Reynolds were also honorably mentioned as they were on this call as well.
