The City of Clifton has been awarded a $25,000 Strategic Economic Expansion and Development (SEED) grant from the Office of Rural Prosperity at the Kansas Department of Commerce. The awarded grant funds will help the city build a new, safe playground in Berner Memorial Park. The funding greatly helps towards the city’s goal of raising $125,000 to replace the decades-old playground structures in the park.

Since 1967, Berner Memorial Park has been a gathering spot for residents and visitors alike. Annually, the Park hosts various sporting and community events, and includes the city swimming pool, two pavilions, a baseball field, a pickleball court, a volleyball court, a playground, and more.

Those who would like to donate to the Park Project are encouraged to through the Washington County Community Foundation at washingtoncountycf.org, with funds being matched up to $1.50 per dollar through December.

More information on the project, including contact information, can be found at cityofcliftonkansas.com/park-project.
