Despite ominous skies and wicked spring hail, more than 180 guests braved the weather to attend the Community Foundation of Dickinson County’s annual Scholarship Reception last night. A heartfelt gathering that recognized the power of education, philanthropy, and perseverance.
Hosted at the beautiful Sand Springs Venue, the reception welcomed scholarship recipients, donors, and their families for an evening of gratitude and celebration. Even with muddy roads and stormy skies, no one got stuck—literally or figuratively—as the community came together to honor this year’s remarkable group of students.
In total, 75 scholarships were awarded, each one representing the generosity of local donors and the dreams of students stepping into their future. These awards not only ease the financial burden of higher education but also affirm the hopes that donors have for the next generation of leaders, caregivers, innovators, and public servants. This year, over $200,000 in scholarships were awarded to students.
“Our scholarship donors believe in the potential of young people in Dickinson County,” said Elizabeth Weese, Executive Director of the Foundation. “Each scholarship tells a story. A story of someone who loves or loved this community, who worked hard, and who wanted to help others rise. To see these students, and to know that legacy continues through them, is incredibly moving.”
Guests enjoyed a delicious meal provided by Lucinda’s Katering, whose warmth and professionalism matched the tone of the evening. The meal served as a fitting backdrop to the fellowship shared across generations, connecting those who give with those who are just beginning their journey.
The Foundation extends heartfelt thanks to every donor who made these scholarships possible and to every student who inspires us with their ambition and resilience.
