By Quinn O’Hara

The Dickinson County Historical Society has been awarded three grants from the Community Foundation of Dickinson County as a part of their Foundation Community Grants program.

The grants provided a total of $9,000 to DCHS. $4,000 of the funds will be split amongst two upcoming DCHS community events. Austin Anders, the Director of DCHS explains more:

DCHS also reserved a portion of funding for live entertainment at their upcoming Old Fashioned Christmas event, as well as for a few space heaters for performers and visitors.

The remaining $5,000 will go towards a community center at DCHS:

The Historical Society will need to raise an additional $150,000 to complete the project. Anders projects that construction will begin sometime this coming spring. Once finished, the community center will be able to host up to 90 people, and various types of community events.
