Former MHS CEO Receives Charles S. Billings Award by Kansas Hospital Association

The Kansas Hospital Association (KHA) has named Harold Courtois, retired CEO of Memorial Health System in Abilene, the recipient of the 2025 Charles S. Billings Award. The honor, presented annually since 1971, recognizes individuals who have made outstanding contributions to health care in Kansas. Courtois was honored as the 45th recipient.

With a career spanning more than 50 years, Courtois held leadership roles at Memorial Health System, Russell Regional Hospital, and Trego County Lemke Memorial Hospital.

He served on the KHA Board from 2019–2024, including as treasurer, and held multiple leadership positions on the Workers’ Compensation Fund Board and KHA committees. Courtois is also active in civic organizations.

KHA President Chad Austin praised him as a statewide leader and mentor fostering innovation in health care.
