The Geary County Historical Society has received a $2,000 grant from Freedom’s Frontier National Heritage Area to support the upcoming Black History Trail exhibit, set to be installed in mid-2025.
The exhibit will serve as an entry point for the Black History Trail of Geary County, showcasing significant Black stories, photos, and artifacts. The Historical Society, a long-time supporter of the Black History Trail, is enthusiastic about providing a permanent space for these historical narratives.
Collection of materials for the exhibit will take place from late 2024 through early 2025. Those with stories, photos, or artifacts relevant to Black history in Geary County are encouraged to contribute. To share materials or learn more, individuals can contact Heather Hagedorn at the museum.
