Herington Hero Award Winner, Kevin Bayes

Home Health and Hospice of Dickinson County

Home Health and Hospice of Dickinson County in Herington, an affiliate of Memorial Health System in Abilene, has selected the next Herington Hero Award.  Congratulations to Kevin Bayes, and thank you for taking care of Herington!

Kevin is the current Coach/Director for Herington Hearts Core Community.  This particular program works to end poverty and reduce trauma.  It offers support to individuals and families, from guidance to better financial health to finding the appropriate social resources available.  Those who enter the training program meet weekly, and to ensure the successful completion of the program, food and childcare are provided during meeting times!

The nomination said that Kevin is deserving of this award because he “donates time and money to the Herington Hearts and also volunteers for other Herington projects.  He goes above and beyond to recruit new members to participate in Herington Hearts.  He inspires others in the community by giving to others and improving lives.

I myself have had the privilege to meet Kevin and see how he interacts with his community.  He is a very kind man, and it is easy to see through his actions, the love he has for his community, and the determination he has to ensure people are taken care of.  You can learn more about the Herington Hearts Core Community program through their Facebook page:  https://www.facebook.com/heringtonhearts/

Tristyn Killer, Certified Nurse Assistant for Home Health and Hospice of Dickinson County, presented Kevin with the Herington Hero Award and asked him how it felt to be the next Herington Hero.  He replied by saying, It was a total surprise but it feels good to know that what I do is noticed.”  He said he asked his wife, “Did you know about this?!?!”

Sometimes the surprise is a surprise for everyone!  Rewarding the heroes and seeing the first reaction is a reward in itself.  If you know someone deserving of this award and want to share it with the Herington community, please fill out the form online at: http://mhsks.org/herington-hero-award/ or stop by the Herington office at 11 N Broadway, we’ll be happy to see you!

If you or your business would like to help sponsor a hero for a month, please contact us at 785-258-3611 or stop by our office.  We not only recognize our hero by sharing their story but also give them a small token of appreciation.  We would love to open this opportunity up to anyone who wants to help us award these amazing individuals.
