MANHATTAN, Kan. – Junior outfielder Brendan Jones is the first Wildcat in school history to be named a Gold Glove Finalist, as announced by the American Baseball Coaches Association and Rawlings Sporting Goods. Jones joins Bryce Boettcher (Oregon), Vance Honeycutt (North Carolina), Ryley Johnson (East Carolina), Kyle Jones (Stetson), and Garrett Scavelli (St. John’s) as the six outfielders selected.
Jones, from Greenbrier, Tennessee, was one of the Big 12’s top defensive players this season with a .994 fielding percentage. In three seasons at K-State, he has a career fielding percentage of .993 with 289 putouts and seven assists. Jones led the Conference in stolen bases (40) and walks (55) and was third with 69 runs scored. He earned All-Big 12 recognition and had a .303/.442/.500 slash line. The ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove winners will be announced on June 19.
